  SAE in place of whitworth for pinion shaft.JPG - A 15/16 works as a 1/2W. The ACE Hardware 12 pt. socket fit with very little grinding in the recess of the pinion shaft flange. My old 1/2W socket had too much wall thickness, and I sure didn't want to grind it down. Total cost, less than $5.
