The radiator shell is the focal point of the MG. My shell needed refinishing, but I didn't want to send it far, far away. There was help available from people with plenty of experience and patience to get all my parts needing rechroming ready for plating.

Removal and Teardown The radiator and grille comes off the car in an assembly. It is then a simple matter to strip the parts. (19 Images)

Radiator Restoration The radiator needed examining, cleaning and paint. I knew that the car ran fairly cool, and that the radiator didn't leak. I decided it was worth the risk to cosmetically restore so I would have a baseline on my cooling. I also needed to fix the drain cock, and I wanted to get an original piece. (12 Images)

Shell and Grille Restoration The chrome was very tired, and there were wear points that needed filliing. It requires a lot of prep to get parts ready for chrome. Mike Speidel was gracious enough to help me and show me the ropes. The grille slats were chrome, and I wanted them to be more accurately painted the interior color. (26 Images)

Assembly and Installation Assembly and installation of the radiator and grille. Eventually, when I filled it with coolant, I discovered some problems which needed to be corrected. Hint: When you fill your radiator, make sure your funnel doesn't also fill the overflow tube, or you will spend some time chasing a non-existent leak! (33 Images)
